Abstract

SAINDHAVA LAVANA-AN AYURVEDIC DRUG REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Saindhava Lavana (rock salt), commonly known as Sendha Namak and scientifically identified as Halite, is
regarded in Ayurveda as the (best) among all varieties of Lavana. It has been extensively described in classical
Ayurvedic texts for its therapeutic, dietary, and Panchakarma applications. Owing to its unique properties and
widespread use, Saindhava Lavana occupies an important place in Ayurvedic pharmaceutics and clinical practice.
