Prachi Jitendra Rathod*
ABSTRACT
Herbal medicine involves the use of plant-derived extracts for managing various health conditions, and herbal syrups remain among the most commonly utilized formulations. This study focuses on the development and evaluation of an herbal antioxidant and cough-relief syrup prepared using natural ingredients such as tulsi, turmeric, honey, orange peel, and betel leaf. These components provide antimicrobial, antioxidant, expectorant, and antitussive properties. Laboratory assessment of the formulation, including measurements of pH, viscosity, and density, confirmed its stability and suitability for consumption. Comparative analysis indicated that the herbal formulation exhibited higher antioxidant activity than other tested variants. Historically rooted in Ayurvedic practice, herbal cough syrup continues to serve as an effective and economical remedy for both acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including colds and coughs. Based on the findings, the formulated herbal syrup represents a safe and accessible treatment option for respiratory symptoms.
