EXPLORING THE EFFICACY OF AYURVEDA IN ALCOHOLIC LIVER DISEASE: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Liver is an important gland in human body which detoxifies various metabolites, synthesize proteins and produces biochemicals necessary for digestion. Alcoholic liver disease could be due to alcohol consumption for long term, fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, and chronic hepatitis with liver fibrosis or cirrhosis. This condition can be correlated with Yakrit Vriddhi or Yakritdalyodara. Madya causes vitiation of Pitta and Rakta and leads to Yakrit Vriddhi. This case study is a 70-year old male, presented with abdominal pain, abdominal heaviness and numbness in bilateral lower limb. Treated with Ayurvedic Shamanoushadhis, Panchakarma therapies along with diet & lifestyle management. This helped in improvement of signs and symptoms, decrease in SGPT, SGOT, Bilirubin levels.
