Abstract

CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING OF CONJUNCTIVITIS THROUGH AYURVEDA

ABSTRACT

Conjunctivitis, a most common cause of red eye affects all group of individuals irrespective of their age. The clinical features of different types vary depending on causative factor. Though self-limiting, conjunctivitis may sometimes progress to sight threatening complications due to structural continuity with the cornea. It can be compared with the disease abhishyanda, one of the eye diseases mentioned in Ayurveda. Through this article, an effort has been made to understand the conjunctivitis in terms of abhisyanda and significance of ayurveda in its management.
